I wanna see you happy, we both come from broken families – Nipsey Hussle
Chanel and Staten’s baby shower was expensive as fuck. The food choices weren’t like no baby shower I’ve been to. Chanel had steak, lobster, and all kind of other expensive food choices. If that wasn’t enough, the shit had the nerve to be all you could eat. Her parents may have liked to act like they were better than everyone else, but her whole other side of her family were ratchet as hell. Those people took everything but the damn silverware from the baby shower. Chanel glided around the shower with this long dress on while holding her stomach. She thought she was the Queen of the hour and I could tell that Staten was over her dramatics. Still, because he loved her, he stuck by her side and put up with her shenanigans for the entire shower. It was something off about him and I wanted to pull him to the side a few times and ask. It wasn’t until Justice questioned where Liberty was that I realized that was probably the reason that Staten had this blank expression on his face.
After Mirror stormed out, Justice was ready to leave so we left too. I didn’t plan to stay long because of the way Chanel acted about this baby shower. It was too much heat and I didn’t want to get caught slipping. You would think her dumb ass would realize that she’s having a baby by the nigga that runs Staten Island, be more low-key, and move smarter. I could tell that was another thing that probably bothered him. Chanel didn’t give a damn and did whatever she wanted. We all were there to support Staten and you could tell. Chanel avoided our table and even when she walked by, she did a fake ass wave like she didn’t know we were way in the back. From the way the seating chart was, you could tell she put us back here on purpose. It was all about her family. Free had to fake a contraction to get Ghost to calm down. Once Chanel only acknowledged the baby’s one grandmother, he was about to go upside her head. The baby shower overall was nice, but it was over the top – just like Chanel.
“You want some breakfast?” Justice asked. I admired her thick body in her silk robe. The sash was tied above her bump as she moved around the kitchen carefully.
“When are you going to learn to sit your ass down and relax?” I laughed and sat next to Love at the kitchen island.
“The girls have to eat before school and I couldn’t sleep anyway,” she fussed back and placed a glass plate of grits, eggs, bacon, and toast in front of me.
Justice always cooked like this every morning. It was something the girls had gotten spoiled with. One week she was sick, and you would have thought they were going to die because they had to eat pop tarts or cereal.
